Timothy Chen
Timothy Chen first dove into the world of numismatics in middle school when he was given a worn 1936-D Buffalo nickel in change from a local coin dealer after his mom bought him his first “A Guide Book of United States Coins” Red Book in 2016. However, it wasn’t until he was a high school senior in 2020 did he begin to buy and sell coins online and at local shows as a fun hobby. Shortly after graduating college in 2024, he founded Winged Liberty Rare Coins, Inc. in California. Since then, he has been actively buying and selling toned coins on his website, eBay, Instagram, and at major trade shows. He specializes in late 19th century to mid 20th century U.S. coins and is always on the hunt for high premium toned coins. Before founding his company, he interned at his local coin shop, Alhambra Coin Center, as well as America’s largest auction house, Heritage Auctions.
In June of 2024, Tim graduated with high honors (magna cum laude) from the University of California, Riverside, with a bachelor’s degree in Finance and a minor in Psychology. As the 2024 President of The Undergraduate Business Association & The School of Business Leadership Council at UCR, he has used his technical skills and experience as a student leader to spearhead his businesses. As an ambitious young coin dealer, he strives to deliver excellent customer service and offer a growing selection of premium quality coins. When Tim is not dealing in coins, he enjoys playing badminton, watching classic American films, listening to jazz, and cooking. To learn more about Tim, visit his LinkedIn Profile here.
